Thistleyard

Software studio · Crawley, England

Small, careful software for the ordinary bits of life.

Thistleyard is an independent studio building a small number of apps, carefully — no advertising, no selling anyone’s data, no clever tricks to keep you opening the app. Just tools that hold up on a Tuesday morning. Nothing has shipped yet — the first app is below.

What we make

One app, in development. A second on the bench.

JotNext

In development

A planner for people whose day is a mix of things they must do and places they must be. Tasks, lists and appointments in one place, on iPhone, Apple Watch and the web — with the plain question answered at a glance: what’s next?

  • Tasks and appointments together. One day view, not two competing apps.
  • Travel time built in. Put a place on a task and it tells you when to set off.
  • On your wrist. A real Apple Watch app and Lock Screen widgets, not an afterthought.
  • Your calendar stays yours. Apple Calendar is read on your phone and never reaches us.

A personal money app

Early design

The same idea applied to spending: a clear picture of where the month has gone, without a wall of charts. Early days — we will say more when there is something to show.

How we work

Three things we decided early and won’t quietly drop.

The phone leads

Every feature is designed for the handset first and proved there before anything else gets it. A tool you use while walking out of the door cannot be a desktop app with the corners filed off.

Your data is not the product

No advertising, no analytics sold on, no third party buying a profile of your week. Where something can stay on your device rather than on our server, it stays on your device.

Plain pricing

A free tier that is genuinely usable, one paid tier, and a price on the page. No countdown timers, no discount you only see when you try to leave.
